Shopping in the East

The many malls in this region keep shoppers coming back for more

The eastern part of Singapore is home to established malls with a regular following, as well as new and refurbished ones. Located near housing estates and MRT stations, these malls are typically family hangouts with popular franchises and home-grown brands.

HOT SPOTS

East-siders would be familiar with Tampines Central: Tampines Mall, Tampines One and Century Square. The first two are favourites in the neighbourhood, while Century Square re-opened on June 6 with a new look and an exciting tenant list including local brand M) phosis, a cinema and eateries such as Hai Di
Lao and Boon Tong Kee.

Close by, the well-established town of Bedok rivals Tampines as a major shopping hub in the heartlands, with over 200 shops in Bedok Mall.

Another family favourite is Parkway Parade. It is not located near an MRT station, yet it has been drawing crowds for decades. When the Marine Parade station on the Thomson-East Coast Line opens in 2023, it is likely to see new offerings.

For more shopping options, there is Paya Lebar. Five years ago, the area was mainly known for being home to the headquarters of mail and logistics company Singapore Post.

Today, it is a bustling node that sees all walks of life passing through. Paya Lebar Square directly connects to the MRT station, and the newly refurbished SingPost Centre is just a short walking distance away. One KM Shopping Mall is also a less-than-10-minute walk away.

Also in the east is the sports-themed Kallang Wave Mall (next to Singapore Sports Hub) which is well known to athletes and concert-goers. It is home to the tallest indoor climbing wall and shops curated for sports lovers and families.
